Credit Card Promotions
|
If you are looking for a new credit card, pay attention to special promotions
that could quickly put an extra buck or two in your pocket. Our readers have
scoured the internet for deals and we have compiled them on this page.
Promotions often only last several days or weeks so check back often as old
deals expire and new ones appear.
American Express Preferred Rewards Gold Card ($100 after first purchase + $125 in waived annual fees)
What you get:
1. 10,000 points, redeemable for $100 after you spend $500 in the first 3 months).
2. See our American Express Gold Card Review... this is truly one of the best
credit cards around
3. $125 annual fee waived / No hidden fees.
Any catches?
1. Several years ago, I signed up for this exact card thinking that I would take
advantage of the waived annual fee and then cancel it after the first year. The
card's benefits exceeded my expectations, so not only did I keep the card, but I
also wrote an analysis about how this card could save you thousands of dollars
every year.
Chase Freedom Visa Signature Card ($50 after first purchase)
What you get:
1. $50 DOLLARS after your first purchase (any amount qualifies).
2. One of the best rewards cards available: 3% cash back on your top 3 purchase
categories and 1% cash back on everything else.
3. No annual fee / No hidden fees.
Any catches?
1. The only thing you have to look out for is that the APR tends to be higher
than average for this card. DO NOT collect too much debt on this card. If you
do, transfer it to another card with a low APR. Other than that, this is hands down
one of the best card promotions available right now.
American Express Preferred Rewards Green Card ($50 after first purchase + $95 in waived annual fees)
What you get:
1. $50 DOLLARS after spending $500 in the first 3 months.
2. Other features are very similar to American Express Gold
Any catches?
1. The $95 annual fee is only waived for the first year.
American Express One Card ($50 after first purchase)
What you get:
1. $50 DOLLARS IN CASH after your first purchase (any amount qualifies). The $50 will be deposited into an American Express savings account which earns 2.75% interest. You can withdraw from it at any time.
2. This is another great consumer rewards card. American Express will deposit 1%
of what you spend into a high yield savings account. Essentially, it's a
universal cash back card.
3. The prestige and services of American Express. See our article about what American Express offers.
4. No hidden fees.
Any catches?
1. Unlike the Chase Freedom card, the APR on this card is actually pretty decent. However, there is a $35 annual fee. But don't worry, with this deal, the fee is waived for the first year. So give the card a test drive: if you like it after 1 year, you can continue using it for $35/year and if you don't, walk away with your $50 bucks and other rewards.
Discover Business Credit Card ($100 after first purchase)
What you get:
1. $100 DOLLARS IN CASH after you spend $1000 over the first 3 months.
2. 0% APR for 12 months and a very good rate thereafter.
3. No annual fee / No hidden fees.
4. 5% cash back on office supplies, 2% cash back on gas, and 1% cash back on
everything else.
Any catches?
1. This is a business card, but you don't need a business to apply for one. See
our article on how everyone should take advantage of business credit cards.
2. You have to spend $1000 over the first 3 months, but since this card comes
with a 0% APR over 12 months, you can simply make all your purchases with this
card for 3 months then walk away with an extra $100 dollars.
Hilton Honors Credit Card From Amex (10,000 points after first purchase)
What you get:
1. 10,000 points after your first purchase. This is equivalent to $55 dollars according to our points and miles calculator.
2. There are tons of Hilton related perks like status upgrades, additional
points, and points for everyday purchases. Extremely useful if you travel.
3. No annual fee / No hidden fees.
4. Because this card is from American Express, you can expect great customer service and additional benefits.
Any catches?
1. If you don't stay at hotels, then this card is obviously not going to help you out much. Typically, a free night at a Hilton branded hotel (Hampton Inn, Embassy Suites, Doubletree, Hilton Garden Inn, Homewood Suites, and Conrad Hotels) costs between 20,000 and 40,000 points.
